JOB TITLE:  Grant Funded: Gear Up Data Coordinator 

SUMMARY OF POSITION/PURPOSE:
GEAR UP provides training and support for administrators
and teachers at Socorro High School and Sarracino Middle School to enhance
preparation for postsecondary education.

Responsibilities:

 

With support from the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) and the District GEAR UP New Mexico (GUNM) Program Coordinator, the GUNM Data Coordinator will:

 

  • Collect, enter, and report GUNM data for all missile and high school GEAR UP activities.
  • Gather and maintain documentation and data on all activities and programs that provide services to GUNM students, their parents and teachers.
  • Regularly and reliably enter all student, staff, and family activity participation into the GUNM database.  
  • Compile and report data for GUNM Regional Coordinator for program evaluation and other reporting purposes.
  • Attend all GUNM site meetings, ZOOM meetings, and regional and state trainings.
  • Maintain documentation of data systems, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure integrity of data, verifying information regarding data quality and data completion.
  • Produce timely reports as requested by GUNM administration.  
  • Assist with Federal and State reporting of school district data including exporting and uploading to external systems.  
  • Assist the GUNM District Program Coordinator in maintaining up-to-date documentation of matching funds for GUNM activities and submit monthly matching contributions report to the District Program Coordinator.  
  • Assist the District Program Coordinator with administrative work such as event planning, requisitions, and accounts payable tasks.  



GEAR UP New Mexico College and Career Readiness Coordinator

 

Responsibilities:

 

With support from the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) and the District GEAR UP New Mexico (GUNM) Program Coordinator, the GUNM College and Career Readiness Coordinator will:

 

  • Assist the District GUNM Program Coordinator (PC) with preparing and ensuring the accuracy of monthly submissions (RfR, T&E, and Match), data, and programmatic submissions.
  • Ensures district-specific policies are followed, e.g., out-of-district travel requests and permission slips for student travel, procurement processes, and accounts payable tasks are timely and accurate.  
  • Assists the PC in ensuring GUNM Standards of Practice (SOP) and other requirements assigned throughout the year are followed.
  • Assist in implementing all grant activities as outlined in the SOP.
  • Attend all GUNM events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.  
  • Assist the PC with providing students with counseling, advising and academic planning without duplicating the services of the school counselors.    
  • Aid in recruiting students to attend GUNM-sponsored events, conferences, and bus tours.  
  • Coordinate student transportation to and from GUNM events, conferences, and bus tours and serve as chaperone when necessary. 
  • Assist in organizing and accompanying students on college and workforce visits.  
  • Supports middle school students in completing interest inventories to support college and career readiness.
  • Supports 8th grade students with high school transition including pushing into 8th grade classes to discuss college and career opportunities. 
  • Ensures all GUNM events including college and workforce visits, parent nights, FAFSA nights, tutoring hours, and special events are adequately catered for maximum participation.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Associates degree in related field. (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Understanding of and experience with student information collection and analysis for federal grant reporting.
  • Experience with Student Information Systems.
  • Experience with relational database technologies.
  • Experience with data extraction, reporting and analysis tools. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database design and data techniques.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to deliver clean data in a timely manner.
  • Ability to establish rapport with adults and adolescents and serve as a positive role model are essential.  
  • Experience with creating and using purchase orders, invoices and payable vouchers.  
  • Ability to travel on several overnight visits throughout the school year.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, files, and important documents. 
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of students while traveling.  


This is a full-time,10-month position, contingent upon external funding.
