JOB TITLE:  Route Bus Driver/ AM Route

SUMMARY OF POSITION/PURPOSE:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
School bus driving experience

 CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
CDL State of New Mexico Driver's License

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Obeys all traffic laws.
  2. Observes all mandatory state safety and school bus driving regulations.
  3. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
  4. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  5. Keeps assigned bus clean.
  6. Keeps to assigned schedule.
  7. Completes a daily pre-maintenance check before driving the bus.
  8. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  9. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  10. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips and daily bus route.
  11. Transports only authorized students.
  12. Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  13. Enforces regulations against tobacco use and eating on the bus.
  14. Pass a physical and eye examination.
  15. Must attend the New Mexico School Bus Institute and become skilled in first aide, CPR and defensive driving.

Academic Year as approved by Socorro Consolidated Schools Board of Education (Salary listed as Full Time . Part Time salary dependent on FTE)

Director of Transportation

Socorro Consolidated Schools provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
