JOB TITLE: Peer Wellness Navigator
SUMMARY OF POSITION/PURPOSE:
The Peer Navigator’s role is to provide behavioral health supports for students and their families in the program. They are responsible for supporting all grant related community outreach and coordination; coordinating and implementing mental health promotion and prevention activities and services school/district wide; and supporting the project manager and clinical project staff as needed. The goal of this program is to provide support and engagement for students that wraparound them as they move through their educational program.

EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
Degree (preferred) in Social Work, Counseling, Addiction, Nursing or other related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
Preferred: At least three years teaching experience in the content area
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Project AWARE Manager.
- Establish and maintain weekly communication, either on site, email, or by phone, with local partners and school leaders.
- Participate in Local Project Taskforce, as well as Statewide Project Steering Committee meetings.
- Perform outreach and provide support clinical services to youth exhibiting behavioral issues.
- Connect students in need of treatment with appropriate level of care.
- Engage in regular reporting requirements for grant with support from Project AWARE manager and evaluation team.
- Regularly reporting relevant behavioral health interventions and therapeutic support.
Coaching/Recovery
- Assisting students in articulating goals and coping skills relevant to treatment and recovery.
- Support families and students with harm reduction strategies.

- Basic computer skills.
